Already Have Tech Experience? Here’s Your Fast-Track Path at TeckyGuys Academy
Not everyone starting a new tech pathway is starting from scratch. Maybe you’ve been doing help-desk support for years and want to move into networking. Maybe you’re self-taught in Python and want a credential to back it up. Maybe you studied IT years ago, took a break, and now want to get current. If any of that sounds like you, you shouldn’t have to sit through material you already know — and at TeckyGuys Academy, you don’t have to.
What "Fast-Tracking" Actually Means
Every TeckyGuys pathway — Networking & Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Programming & Development, AI & Data Science, Linux & Systems Administration, and Data Center Engineering — is built in levels, each with clear entry requirements. Rather than forcing every student through Level 1 regardless of background, the Academy reviews direct-entry requests based on:
- Previous education or coursework
- Existing certifications
- Professional work experience
- A readiness assessment, where needed
If your background shows you’re already operating at a Level 2 or Level 3 standard, you can be placed there — instead of repeating fundamentals you’ve already mastered.
Important: Fast-Tracking Isn't Skipping the Work
Direct entry gets you into the right starting point — it doesn’t waive what that level requires. You’ll still need to:
- Complete the required coursework for the level you enter
- Complete the hands-on labs and build your evidence portfolio
- Pass that level’s capstone assessment
- Meet the same conduct, attendance, and integrity standards as every other student
In other words: fast-tracking respects your time, not your standards. You earn the award for the level you’re placed in the same way anyone else does — you just don’t waste time relearning what you already know.
Who This Is For
- IT support or help-desk technicians moving into networking, cybersecurity, or Linux
- Self-taught developers or data enthusiasts who want structured validation and a portfolio
- Professionals returning to tech after time away in another field
- Career changers with transferable experience — military, telecom, electronics, or related technical work
- Anyone holding a relevant certification (CompTIA, Cisco, Linux Essentials, etc.) already
How to Know If You Qualify
There’s no universal cutoff — every request is reviewed individually against the level you’re aiming for. The best way to find out is to talk to the Academy directly about your background and the pathway you’re interested in, so they can assess where you actually belong.
Your Experience Deserves a Head Start
You’ve already put in work to get where you are. A fast-track entry means your next step builds on that — not around it.
